Wayne County Warrant Records Wayne County Warrant Records

This page explains what this site can and cannot help with, and where a question about an official Wayne County warrant belongs. Most requests go to the district court that issued the order or to the office that holds the record, not to us. The routing below sends each question to the right counter.

This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot confirm whether a warrant exists, recall or clear a warrant, post bond, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice for anyone. For any of those things, reach the court that issued the order or the office that holds the record.

Need Official Warrant Information?

Most warrant questions in Wayne County fall into one of four routes. Pick the one that matches what you need before you call.

  • A missed court date: contact the district court that set the case, since that court issued the bench warrant and controls the recall
  • Whether an order is still open: ask the court clerk who holds the file, and have the case or ticket number ready
  • Resolving or clearing a warrant: speak with a licensed Michigan attorney and the issuing court about a recall, a voluntary appearance, or posting bond
  • A Sheriff-held record: file a written request with the Sheriff's Office under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act

Circuit and Clerk-held records come from the Wayne County Clerk Records Division at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, Room LL-61, 2 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48226, by phone at (313) 224-5530. The office also takes written requests by fax at (313) 967-3712 and by email at wcrecordroom@waynecounty.com. Records held by the Sheriff's Office instead go through the Sheriff's FOIA coordinator at 5301 Russell Street, Detroit, MI 48211, by phone at (313) 833-0562.

For a Detroit traffic, ordinance, or misdemeanor matter, the court is the 36th District Court at 421 Madison Street, Detroit, MI 48226, by phone at (313) 965-2200. Outside Detroit, the district court printed on the ticket or notice is the one that holds the case. Confirm current counter hours before traveling, since each court keeps its own schedule.
